Inspired by the works of painter Keita Morimoto, this piece is about the liminal space between night and morning, where many young Japanese people wait for their public transport to gome home. Although the sun is rising behind a looming colossal monorail-station, it’s lines still fade away in darkness, possibly taking us nowhere. Like Neo being stuck in Mobil Avenue, will the train ever come? Or are we forever stuck scrolling on our damn phones in this slowly pixelating world. Luckily there are more vending machines than corners in Japan. Hengoku Station is a photography collage made of moments in respectively Tokyo, Osaka, Kanazawa and Chiba at night.
